Paul Nicholls has a tremendous strike-rate here and CONTRE TOUS is his only runner on today’s card. He didn’t manage a win in four starts over hurdles in France and hasn’t raced since February but fitness is rarely a concern for a Ditcheat runner, who has been given time to acclimatise. Casper King was only beaten a neck by the selection’s stablemate Volpone Jelois at Taunton but is proving very hard to place having found one too good in six of his seven career starts. The mare Lagavara has hinted at ability but Putting Green looks the type for handicaps in the not-too-distant future.
