In a race that seemingly lacks strength in depth Jivaty is given the vote on his first start over fences and is preferred to Ile de Paris and Sylvan Shack. The selection was just about the pick of these over hurdles and is sure to have been well schooled by Martin Pipe in readiness for his debut in public over the larger obstacles. Philip Hobbs wasted no time in putting Ile de Paris over fences this term after his reappearance over hurdles and lost no caste in defeat behind Lord Of Illusion at Ludlow last month. The five-year-old should have learned from that and makes more appeal than Irish point-to-point recruit Sylvan Shack, who makes his rules debut today. Winning pointer Trust Fund was tailed off at Kempton first time out but should come on for the run and it is probably too soon to completely write off Robert Alner's gelding. Gaye Trigger has shown signs of ability over hurdles and is another to consider but the vote goes to Jivaty who is taken to give Martin Pipe another winner.
