In depth

Verdict

St Erney is completely unexposed and edged out Snuff Box here in the spring, though the runner-up is now 7lb better off and will be all the better for his run behind Mr Caffrey at Bangor. The latter also has strong claims in this while Captain Drake was in the process of running a better race over track and trip in November when departing at the second last. Western Climate has been getting closer but Barbrook Star couldn’t cope with a higher mark at Sandown after scoring at Warwick. KNOW THE SCORE didn’t stay 3m4f at Haydock so that run is easily forgiven. He’d shown a willing attitude at Worcester on his chasing bow and there is still untapped potential. The Kings Writ will have needed his run at Ascot and is another to consider back over 3m.
