VON BLUCHER wasn't beaten far when favourite at Newmarket last month and would have finished closer but for receiving a hefty bump when just starting to make ground. He was only beaten a neck on his debut in the grade at Sandown and compensation awaits. Clever Bob was a bit disappointing at Newbury after finishing second at Windsor and steps up a furlong for this but Viren's Army is surely better than he showed at Leicester in May, though his absence since is a worry. It will be interesting to see if there is any support for Lembit And Butler as his half-brother won over this trip as a juvenile and Burmese Whisper may be improving with experience.
