A tricky opener, despite the small field. An extra furlong may have been Under Siege's undoing at Brighton last week. Both Rashash and Magical Daze started favourite last time. The latter races off the same mark as when third at Bath but the former has been raised 2lb since his run at Lingfield. POTTERNELLO was just collared at Bath nine days ago and Silvestre De Souza takes over the reins from an apprentice. He gets a tentative vote ahead of former stablemate Essaka.
Rashash (IRE) 6-4fav (9-6) With leader, led narrowly over 2f out, ridden and headed over 1f out, kept on same pace under pressure final furlong, no impression, 3rd of 7, 1l behind Great Expectations (9-2) at Lingfield 6f hcp (5) gf in Aug.
Under Siege (IRE) 9-2fav (9-5) Prominent, ridden over 2f out, chased winner over 1f out, weakened final furlong, 4th of 7, 14 1/2l behind Port Lairge (9-0) at Brighton 7f hcp (5) sft in Aug.
Potternello (IRE) 5-2fav (8-13) Held up in touch, headway on outside over 2f out, ridden to challenge when edged left over 1f out, stayed on to lead narrowly inside final furlong, headed near finish, 2nd of 7, 1/2l behind Dusty Blue (9-2) at Bath 6f hcp (5) gf in Aug.
Essaka (IRE) 8-1 (8-8) Slow away in rear, ridden over 2f out, headway inside final furlong, stayed on to go 2nd near finish, 2nd of 8, 1 3/4l behind Vincentti (9-7) at Brighton 6f hcp (5) gs in Aug.
Magical Daze 9-4fav (9-7) Off the pace towards rear, headway halfway, soon chasing leaders, ridden 2f out, driven and strong run inside final furlong led post, won at Windsor 5f hcp (5) gf in Aug beating King Crimson (9-5) by ns, 9 ran.
