Verdict
Desert Lord can defy a penalty at the expense of course specialist Jayanjay, Wanchai Lad and Plateau. Desert Lord humped 10st to victory under Jamie Spencer at Musselburgh 10 days ago, and was such a clear cut winner that he has to be supported to follow up under a 6lb penalty. The only negative would be that he now has an inexperienced apprentice on board, but she is able to claim a handy 7lb and Kevin Ryan would not put her up if he did not have confidence in her ability. Jayanjay has a terrific record here, four of his seven career wins coming at the Surrey venue so he has to be a danger, but has a 142-day absence to overcome. Dandy Nicholls saddles both Wanchai Lad and Plateau, with the former preferred, although Wanchai Lad does have a five-length deficit to make up on the selection Desert Lord, and we remain loyal to the latter.
