        Verdict

        Royal Skies did not help himself with an errant start at Sandown but the fact that Mark Johnston has elected to campaign him against the southern based runners suggests that he must be held in some regard. He won't be able to get away with travelling quite so keenly around the Downs so AUSSIE REIGNS makes much more appeal. William Knight hasn't sent out too many juveniles this term, and the son of Aussie Rules ran far better than his price may have implied at Newmarket. Stiff Upper Lip was easy to back on debut at Salisbury and is bred to need further. Andrew Balding's runners at Epsom are always worth a closer look and Zanetto takes a drop back to maiden company having been outclassed in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot.
