        Verdict

        This won’t take much winning but the handicapper is doing maiden Alberta no favours. Carthage made late headway when attempting a double at Thirsk and is back in form. Jupiter Custos went close in the Amateur Derby here last month and should again beat fourth Whinging Willie but Medburn Cutler is generally better over further and is probably in the handicapper's grip now. ELYSIAN PRINCE hasn't run on the Flat since the spring but has been busy over hurdles. This trip should be within his range nowadays so he gets a tentative vote.
