WAR GODDESS was travelling nicely for much of the way before hanging on for her opening victory over the course and distance two weeks ago. A 5lb rise doesn't look insurmountable and she has scope to do better. New Direction completed a hat-trick in the autumn and shot up the weights as a consequence but showed he was capable of winning again from this mark when just failing to concede 9lb to Tommy Welsh a fortnight ago. Commander Won was only just behind and was staying on so strongly that he can reverse the placings even though he's yet to win a race. Black Label has looked a few pounds high since scoring here in November but Carraigin Aonair is only 1lb higher than when scoring here in November.
