ROTER BARON gained the first victory of his career when defying a moderate draw last week. He's up 5lb but hasn't had much racing and can defy the extra. Merry Mast wasn't far behind but has only won once in 27 starts. Coach Bombay, who can usually be found over longer trips, dropped to this distance last time and produced a cracking effort behind Beat The Ballot with Doonard Prince, who was having just his second run over the trip, close behind. County Wexford had only showed a modicum of ability before beating Reckless Lad over the course and distance last week. He's been raised 6lb and faces a stiff task at the weights though his young rider's claim should aid his cause. Six Silver Lane was in fine form at this time a year ago and has been gradually dropping to a mark he looks capable of winning from so he's definitely on the shortlist.
