In depth

Verdict

Winning hurdler Captain Carleton did very well when runner-up over a mile here in January as this is much more like his trip. Dai Bando is an even better hurdler and is also likely to do better over this distance though he makes his debut on the surface. Tennesse Waltz followed a good introduction with a narrow defeat over the course and distance and will almost certainly improve but Mozetta, who has been very consistent here and on Turf, is likely to find this on the short side. FRENCH APPROACH makes his belated racecourse debut and wouldn't have been kept by Jim Bolger unless thought capable of paying his way. His dam has produced winners with her first three foals and he's taken to carry on the family tradition.
