Jim Bolger has had a problem finding a race for MCGUIGAN but the well connected son of Teofilo is having his first start on the surface and his overall form should give him the edge. Red Lion Rock was sent to Carlisle for a 1m6f bumper last week and was well supported before landing the spoils. The ground was very heavy so how he'll cope with this much shorter trip and different surface is unknown. Storm Ranger made a moderate debut at Gowran in June but put the experience to good use with a much better run at Leopardstown the following month and should improve again. Andy Oliver's pair Pick Your Battle and Bureau Ambition are entitled to have made progress from their summer debuts and can get involved.
