Verdict

With both Vintage Premium and Shahzan House only due to run if there is significant overnight rain this may cut up even further and the logical choice, in the likelihood of a dry night in Yorkshire, is Leo's Luckyman. Mark Johnston's colt has failed to live up to his early promise and reputation but there have been signs of a return to form recently and, with conditions likely to suit, he should be too good for Shamrock City. Paul Howling's gelding was beaten out of sight on his return behind Desert Deer in a conditions race at Newmarket having bolted on his way to the start beforehand. While it is probably best to ignore that run, a lack of racing over the last two seasons suggests that the son of Rock City has had his problems. If the rains come Vintage Premium would have to be respected but he must be considered a doubtful participant at this stage and for that reason the vote has to go to Leo's Luckyman.
