Verdict

Tommy Smith and Beyond The Clouds both have claims with conditions to suit but in a competitive event, narrow preference is for another at the bottom end of the handicap Salviati. Milton Bradley's six-year-old only went down by a-quarter-of-a-length when second to a well-handicapped Matty Tun at Musselburgh last month and on that form he looks the one to be on. Although twice beaten since the gelding was far from disgraced in a better race at York and found six furlongs too far for him at Redcar subsequently. Henry Hall is capable of taking a hand on his best form but seems handicapped to the hilt at present and of more interest could be Colonel Cotton, who holds Nigel Tinkler's horse and Charlie Parkes on running at York last month. Artie is closely matched with Beyond The Clouds on running behind Mornin Reserves in Friday's Gosforth Park Cup and is another to consider but we are happy to side with Salviati, who is only 2lbs higher than at Musselburgh.
