    Verdict

A high draw is usually advantageous here in sprints but American Cousin appears to be back to something like his best and he can make a winning return to handicap company; despite having to negotiate a clear passage from the center of the course. The Milton Bradley-trained Full Spate and Parkside Pursuit, along with Downland are others worthy of consideration if the indications from the betting ring are positive. However, American Cousin seems to come alive at this time of year and was good value for his victory in a claimer at Hamilton after a tardy start last time. He is still on a very handy mark and looks to one to keep on the right side of for the time being. Downland has a good chance at the weights and is feared as the best of the rest.
