In depth

Verdict

FATHER OF JAZZ returned a beaten favourite in the Winter Derby last month and drops down to a mile for the first time. But he still has plenty of scope and given Roger Varian’s yard has won three of the last four renewals, he gets another chance in an open Listed race. Space Traveller raced only once last year though won a Group 2 back in 2019 while Montatham landed a valuable handicap at York last summer when Top Rank finished a length behind in third. The latter went on to win a Group 3 in soft going at Haydock and Bounce The Blues landed a Listed race at Naas before joining current connections. Juan Elcano competed in Group races without success last term and has been gelded subsequently while Beat Le Bon is preferred to stablemate Qaysar.
