James Doyle has ridden the last two winners of this including for Charlie Appleby’s yard in 2019 and the latter runs Eastern World, who scored at Meydan last month for which he’s penalised. But talented apprentice Benoit De La Sayette takes 7lb off the back of the Gosden yard’s HAQEEQY and having been gelded since winning over 7f here in September, the four-year-old is expected to make a bold bid on his return. River Nymph is 11lb higher than when scoring at Newbury last summer while both Brentford Hope and King Ottokar would appreciate any rain and the latter gets a change of headgear for this. Danyah and Ascension are others open to improvement this year and Johan beat Brunch when winning at Ayr last autumn but both Grove Ferry and Born To Be Alive have the more recent form having landed decent handicaps on the all-weather recently.
