Verdict
This looks wide open, a fact likely be endorsed by the betting. Sandret had the proverbial ton in hand despite only beating Storting a length over course and distance six weeks ago, though the runner-up is now 5lb better off and the winner has plenty to prove on today’s going. Conditions could also be too testing for the Godolphin runner Passion And Glory while Dark Lochnagar has raced over longer trips since winning at Chester in the summer on easy ground. Princesse Mathilde doesn’t look badly treated on her first run for Charlie Fellowes but this looks a tall order for Multamis and Olympic Conqueror, the latter being 4lb out of the handicap. Modakhar is the least exposed but Oasis Prince is a tough sort who should run his race again. ALFRED BOUCHER didn’t appear to cope with a further 6lb rise at Sandown when on a four-timer but today’s softer going is in his favour and he could take some catching again if allowed an easy lead.
