Verdict

This race produced a 100/1 winner last year so the market may not be the most reliable of guides. However, Her Own Kind was crying out for further on her debut and is selected to redress the balance today. Asawar and Twyla Tharp are others to seriously have a look at as both hail from top yards that merit all due respect. The former, the most expensive purchase in the race, is related to several winners and can be expected to come into her own in time. A similar statement applies to Twyla Tharp, who enjoyed a steady debut on similar ground in August. However, the fact that she has not been seen out since then does suggest that she will do better as a three-year-old and this may just be part of her education today. Enamoured and Missella are the others that are worth noting for signs of life in the betting, as they hold less obvious claims but come from yards that are always dangerous to ignore. However, if the form book is worth anything at this time of year, Her Own Kind sets the standard they all have to aim for and this daughter of Dubai Millennium is expected to hold the upper hand when they cross the line.
