A middle draw will help Pivotal Flame tag on to whichever side is going the faster if a split occurs when the stalls open and he can outgun Space Shuttle and Corleorton Dancer on these terms. That is not to say that this is a three horse race as the likes of Metalchrist, The Crooked Ring and the unexposed Seamus Shindig all have claims on the best of their form. The last named is definitely on to watch as Henry Candy has been very patient with his juveniles this season and, as his debut form is working out very well, this Aragon colt is one to keep on the right side of. However, as with many, the ground has to be a concern today and others, as more hardened characters, may have his measure this afternoon. Which is where we turn to Pivotal Flame, who ran a blinder when beaten less than three lengths behind the much improved Obe Gold in the Redcar Two-Year-Old Trophy. Space Shuttle has done his connections proud this term and has improved with every run so far. Nevertheless, he has a 6lb penalty under the conditions of the race and will do well to hold off a few of these. Most notably Pivotal Flame, who just edges the vote in receipt of weight today.
