      Verdict

Newstead Abbey was entered for a race at York yesterday but would have a chance if diverted here instead, even though disappointing when favourite at Haydock on his second start. Lewisham, second on his debut at Newcastle, and Kimberella, who filled the same position behind Mister Marc at Goodwood, are others to consider but Carlton Blue needs to improve again on his run behind Jalaa at Leicester if he's to go one better here. Califante represents Richard Hannon and Dettori rides a £65,000 filly for Willie Haggas but that's because Mickael Barzalona is on board ATHMAN. The latter has more speed in his pedigree than the normal Godolphin purchase and is fancied to make a winning start to his career.
