In depth

Verdict

The likely going is a huge plus for City Streak, who produced a career-best when scoring at Ascot last time and won on soft ground at Chester earlier. In The Breeze has been back to his best lately but the three-year-olds are still getting a handy 8lb weight-for-age allowance over this trip at this stage of the season and Vaguely Royal won over course and distance in June, though is encountering these conditions for the first time. Cavern Club’s Newmarket win hasn’t been franked but EL JASOR benefited from a step up in trip to score at Newbury and the addition of cheekpieces could help with a 6lb rise. It’s too soon to give up on Rogue Sea while Harappan is clearly progressing and shouldn’t be ignored.
