Only one winner of this has started at double-figure odds in eight renewals so the market is always a good guide. Zeshov has become something of a Musselburgh specialist and picked up a penalty for justifying favouritism there last week. Ventura Gold only won a claimer at Lingfield but Luke Harvey’s mount will handle any give in the ground. Another three-year-old, Lady Alavesa, is usually thereabouts but Cheeky Rascal is now 0-15 so Placebo Effect makes more appeal as he will be ridden by his trainer, who should know how to get the best out of the recent Thirsk third. Andrew Thornton was race-riding as recently as June so should be able to give DETACHMENT every assistance. Les Eyre’s charge was fourth in a much better race than this at Beverley in July and won over 1m2f at that track earlier in the year. Cadeau Magnifique also has a squeak along with Central City.
