Diamond Katie, Cape Unknown and Firebird are three against the field in this open maiden and the narrow vote is given to Cape Unknown. The selection was a fair second behind Peopleton Brook last time out. That horse has won again since and under the same conditions here and from what looks a good draw he is taken to break his maiden tag. Diamond Katie rates the main danger on her latest fourth behind Born To Be Bold but she gave the impression on that occasion she would be seen to better effect over a longer trip and for that reason is passed over. Firebird is another that could go well on her debut run of last season but she was very disappointing last time out so can not be put forward with any confidence. Of the remainder, Wrighty Almighty is a well-bred Danehill Dancer colt, half-brother to 7f and 1m 2f winner Scotty's Future and should be noted in the market but in a race where the betting could well tell all for the winner we return to Cape Unknown.
