Verdict
Charlies Double is taken to land what is a wide open looking affair, with Caper, Roman Candle and Little Brave all expected to play a part. A mistake at the last did not help when Charlies Double was beaten by Over Bridge at Uttoxeter a fortnight ago, but the return to this less testing circuit should help. John Best's charge earned his penalty for a gutsy win at Fakenham the time before, and a repeat of that effort should see him go close. Caper should also be in the shake-up now that he is stepped up in trip, and his claimer can take off a very handy 10lb. Roman Candle did nothing wrong when beating Nod's Star at Fontwell but probably has more on his plate now, while Little Brave's only victory over hurdles came in selling company at Towcester in April. However, he did have the speed to win a few times on the Flat and it would be no surprise if he were to take a hand. With things in his favour today though, it is Charlies Double who is taken to come out on top.
