It is interesting that Jimmy Styles takes up this engagement rather than the Portland Handicap but he may have to play second fiddle to DRAWNFROMTHEPAST, who looks potentially very well treated and he can provide Jamie Osborne with a timely winner. Although he hasn't had many runners, Osborne has not had a winner since June and he will be looking to remedy that here. Mick Kinane looks a good jockey booking for this former Royal Ascot winner, who is now able to race off his lowest mark to date. Lowther bounced back to form last time out at Chester in the first-time eye-shield and another bold bid is expected with the drop in trip no problem, Celtic Sultan is a decent front-runner when on song, whilst Castles In The Air's consistency means that he now appears to be too high in the weights. Pearley Wey has been in poor nick but he would be interesting off this mark if bouncing back to form. However it is his stablemate who deserves closer attention. Jimmy Styles was fourth in the Great St. Wilfrid, before filling a close-up third in a Listed race at Newmarket last time. This slightly longer trip should be ideal and he is capable of winning off this mark of 102. Musaalem romped home here in July but he was clobbered by the handicapper as a result and he needs to improve again, especially if he is to turn around a six-length deficit when beaten by Jimmy Styles in May. His trainer has a 20% strike-rate here in recent seasons. At a price the quirky Excusez Moi may go better for today's pilot who has won on him in the past, however with neither Spanish Bounty nor Big Noise looking particularly well-handicapped, it is Drawnfromthepast who is given the tentative nomination.
