    Verdict

Hugely impressive when winning York's Great Voltigeur by eight lengths last month, SEA MOON appears to hold all the aces in the season's final classic. He has had a light campaign and is still progressing and, being closely related to previous St Leger winner Brian Boru and out of a mare that won the Park Hill over this C&D, should have few problems with this longer trip. Seville and Genius Beast, both well behind at York, appear to have little chance of reversing placings on the Knavesmire. Masked Marvel has always looked a stayer in the making and beat Census over 1m5f at Newmarket in July, though only a head separated the pair at the line and the runner-up may well have won had he steered a straight course inside the final furlong. Richard Hannon's colt has since beaten Brown Panther and Buthelezi in the Geoffrey Freer at Newbury, reversing Ascot running with the Michael Owen-owned son of Shirocco who would prefer softer ground. Irish Oaks and 1000 Guineas heroine Blue Bunting is undoubtedly Godolphin's best hope of success. Her stamina saw her get the better of Vita Nova in the Yorkshire Oaks last month and she's a very classy filly who certainly can't be underestimated in her first run against the colts.
