A race full of out of form sprinters desperate to earn their winter training fees. An in-form and well weighted horse to consider at a decent price could be Alan Berry's Polar Impact. With his stable in far better form these days his early season runs can be forgiven. With his liking for soft ground proven he should go close at a decent price and is the TEAMtalk selection. Sir Desmond is an obvious candidate following his two recent victories and he too has the necessary form on soft. He runs well at this time of the year and has a fine chance of landing a hat-trick though his odds may be cramped. Ptarmigan Ridge is the type who needs things to go his way but is very capable on his day. He returns here from a bit of a break and could be ready to score. Whistler ran well in this race last season and runs here on a four pound lower mark. Maktavish has been mainly consistent this season and will not need to improve too much on his last effort at Pontefract (where he holds the selection at these weights) to go close. However his draw and stable form are against him.
