Chester winner Global Genius can improve again to account for the likes of Nihal and Genre. Barry Hills has a very good team of two-year-olds this term and Global Genius can be counted among them after his decisive success at Chester last time, the fast ground no doubt helping his cause. The son of Galileo had hinted at things to come before that when second in the Chesham Stakes at the Royal meeting, and as he holds an entry in the Royal Lodge, this step up to a mile should be in his favour. As long as the ground does not change, this progressive sort is the one to beat. Nihal has done nothing wrong of late, gaining back-to-back victories at Ayr and York. The penny dropped in fine style on the Knavesmire after which this race was nominated by Mark Johnston. She will have no trouble with the trip on breeding and is the one to give the selection most to do. Genre is one of three Richard Hannon runners and may be the best of them on the evidence of his narrow defeat by the useful Youmzain at Goodwood. The latter's trainer Mick Channon saddles Crimson Flame who has been improving bit by bit and is not badly weighted as he meets Anna Pavlova on six-pound better terms for a recent Newcastle defeat. That should enable him to turn the tables on her at least, but we much prefer the claims of Global Genius.
