Penny Dreadful was a disappointing favourite at Newmarket and doesn’t make much appeal off a stiffer mark. Justice Lady, who went close last time, also looks held by the handicapper, as does Lydia Place, who couldn’t follow up her recent Redcar win at Nottingham. Broadhaven Honey is capable of winning off this mark but hasn’t been running well this year since switching to the Tony Carroll yard. In a wide-open race, three-year-old BERRYESSA could be the answer. She encountered traffic problems in her last race but her form prior to that had been solid and, as the least exposed horse in the field, could have something in hand on her rivals. Savannah Beau has dropped to a good mark and has place prospects.
