Scottish River proved disappointing last term after finishing runner-up in a Group 3 contest in July and there was no encouragement from his lacklustre display at Nad Al Sheba on his comeback. Paul Cole's Welenska, twice a winner as a juvenile, shaped well when fourth in Listed company at Kempton on his seasonal reappearance and gets all the weight allowances but Al Moughazel may prove too strong. Pip Payne's charge showed progressive form last term, winning his maiden at Newmarket and following up in a minor event at Ayr in most resolute fashion. He was far from disgraced when fourth behind Fight Your Corner on his final start in an Ascot Listed event on his final start and will prove hard to beat at this level.
