Verdict

Last year's winner had competed in the Victoria Cup beforehand and a few of these took part in the same race at Ascot three weeks ago. TARTIFLETTE came out the best of them when beaten three lengths in sixth with Glen Moss, Lightning Cloud and Born To Surprise all behind. Ed McMahon's filly can confirm superiority and land this prize. Mezzotint just got the better of Poetic Dancer over track and trip last time and that pair are hard to separate while Diescentric steps up a grade after a decent comeback in soft ground at Newcastle behind Amazing Amoray. The latter is up 5lb today while Red Seventy is also facing a much tougher task after scoring in lesser company at Newmarket last time.
