        Verdict

        Eastern Promise gained a surprise victory at Bordeaux in February, with Curly Chop 6 lengths behind, but was well beaten at Langon on Sunday. Stromboli did well to finish second at Angers last week and has to be respected but it's the consistent SUR MA VIE who gets the nod in a poor handicap. Runner-up here in March, that should have put her spot-on for this. Gugus Des Brieres hasn't shown much but is expected to do better under Christophe Soumillon while Pole Celeste, a four-times winner on the all-weather, didn't run badly at Longchamp last week and this is a drop in grade. Maktava completed a double when scoring here last summer but may need the run under a big weight.
