AGE OF KINGS undoubtedly came across a smart one when beaten a nose by Shartash at Naas. He led for much of the way and ran very green when headed though was battling back at the line. His stable also run the $400,000 yearling Congo River, who is from the first crop of Mendelssohn, related to three winners in the USA and will be ridden by Ryan Moore so is presumably the Ballydoyle first string. Mccauley's Tavern couldn't match strides with Comhra over 7f at Roscommon and will need to improve but Woodcock Flight made a very encouraging start when staying on over the track and trip earlier this month. There are plenty of well-connected newcomers on view including the €140,000 yearling Eastern Legend, a half-brother to two winners and Havana Grey's half-brother Blanc De Noir.
