Verdict

This is all about whether Siskin stays the trip or not. Unbeaten in four over 6f including his last three here, he wasn't stopping on unsuitable soft ground in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes but this is a stiff mile and his pedigree suggests it may be a step too far. Ballydoyle line up six against him including Monarch Of Egypt, beaten less than a length in the Phoenix, though not looking the stable number one here with third-placed Royal Lytham looking to have a much better chance of getting the trip than the winner. Seamie Heffernan has chosen Lope Y Fernandez, a winner over 6f and 7f here and certain to be suited by the extra but Vatican City takes a massive step up in trip after his Dundalk maiden victory. He's by Galileo as is ARMORY and it's the latter, who would be better suited than most with a bit of give in the ground, who gets the vote on the back of a close third behind Victor Ludorum in a Group 1 at Longchamp. Jim Bolger doesn't tilt at windmills so Fiscal Rules, beaten a head by 2000 Guineas runner-up Wichita here in August, is a very interesting entry.
