In depth

Verdict

I Am Superman deserves a crack at this level having turned what looked a tough handicap at Naas into a procession. The assessor was impressed putting him up 12lb and he made a fine debut on this course in August. He's still rated 5lb behind ANTILLES, who took a long time to warm up last season culminating in a Naas nursery success, but his neck defeat by Bye Bye Hong Kong in a lucrative event at Chelmsford gives him the edge and he's in the Irish 2000 Guineas. His stable companion U S S Michigan had the better previous form and started favourite at Chelmsford but there doesn't appear any reason for a form reversal. Eclipse Storm made a successful debut at Naas in September but has disappointed this campaign and though most of the remainder have potential they will do well to beat the principals.
