In depth

Verdict

CHAMPERS ELYSEES has won here twice including on her reappearance last summer. She improved throughout the campaign landing the Group 1 Matron Stakes at Leopardstown, when Valeria Messalina was behind, before a fine run on heavy ground in the Sun Chariot at Newmarket. The latter's stable companion No Speak Alexander gained her only victory on heavy going at Roscommon though looks the stable pick ahead of another from the yard, Zaffy's Pride, while Aidan O'Brien's Elizabethan was beaten in a handicap at Gowran on her reappearance. The latter's stablemate Queen's Speech is entered in all of the summer's major fillies' races so she'll need to win here to justify those lofty ambitions. She was visually impressive here in November but the form has worked out very poorly so she's overlooked in favour of the selection.
