Mantell scored over hurdles at Limerick a week ago and has won from a higher mark over fences though not for a very long time. Tawrific Laois hasn't won a race of any description since 2007 and though running reasonably well he's difficult to enthuse over. Alabama Ridge and SECOND GLANCE are very consistent and the handicapper can't release his grip on the former who has been placed seven times over fences. Both are still maidens over jumps but the latter has more scope than his rival and makes his handicap debut from what may prove a lenient mark. D's Trix isn't badly treated but is better over further.
