Verdict
The European dominance of this race can continue with BRIGHT HORIZON worth backing each way. Aidan O'Brien's son of Galileo doesn't have the sexiest of profiles but he improved markedly when stepped up in trip at the Curragh and he runs on Lasix to aid his cause today. His experience of running around two bends should stand him in good stead. Alcomo has the dirt form to make him a player, having won at Belmont prior to finishing second to A. U. Miner in the Greenwood Cup. Supplemented for $75,000, he would need to finish second or better to turn a profit. Precision Break has been tipped up in several European quarters, but his Cesarewitch run was lacklustre and he'll need to improve. His dam was placed on the dirt and he himself has a good record on artificial surfaces in the UK. Giant Oak is a 'hold-up Harry' and will need the luck late for a clear run, whilst this trip looks like it will really suit Hollywood Gold Cup winner Awesome Gem. Eldaafer's record on dirt at Belmont is patchy, and the more obvious danger is Prince Will I Am. Michelle Nihei's rig comes here on the back of a win in the Jamaica handicap but his record on the dirt here leaves something to be desired. Awesome Gem has $2.2million of prize-money to his name and is making his fourth consecutive BC appearance; his trainer is happy with his speed figures ahead of this fifth attempt.
