Nonrunner
Barry Hills has farmed this race in the past but he has no runner and so we will turn to son John's LAYER CAKE ahead of Cosmic Sun and Full Toss. The last-named is the Queen's runner who missed a recent engagement but has shown a level of form that makes him very competitive. He is nicely-bred as you'd imagine and his owner does like a touch (except on official visits where it is strictly off-limits). Aladdin's Lamp cost a penny but didn't seem to progress from first to second runs and has something to prove, as do The Kyllachy Kid and Cosmic Sun who have both shown ability but neither has been able to convert feasible chances. Nut Hand needs a market check as whilst the stable rarely strike first time up, stranger things have happened. We prefer the claims of Layer Cake who comes here on the back of a good second at Wolverhampton. He had previously made his debut in a strong Ascot maiden and given a more fluent start today he must go close. A trappy maiden, but we will stick with Layer Cake.
