In depth

Verdict

In receipt of weight from all his rivals, Melody King can take this decent prize, with Whistler and Awake the likely dangers. The selection has shown his true colours on his last two outings following a couple of poor performances. His recent second behind Ivory Lace at Chepstow as good as any other form on show and he can go one better this evening. Whistler won a shade comfortably at Sandown last time and should go close again despite a hike in the weights. Awake was beaten by the draw at Beverley last time, and although he hasn't won for almost two years he is now on a tempting mark and warrants every respect. Of the remainder Obe One is at the right end of the handicap and could be there at the death, but Melody King, from a perfect draw, looks the pick.
