In depth

Verdict

Compton Dragon has taken a while to return to form but showed enough last time to warrant support here and can beat Rotuma and Trouble Mountain. The Dandy Nicholls trained gelding was beaten under a length by today's rival Rotuma at Newcastle last time but has a significant pull in the weights and can reverse the form. Rotuma did idle in front in that event and if his mind is fully on the job he should again be a big threat to the selection. Trouble Mountain has flattered to deceive on numerous occasions but does have to be respected on the pick of this season's efforts. Also keep an eye out for Gallant Boy in the betting market, he is steadily dropping down the weights and is capable of landing this prize if in the mood. In a very tricky event Frontier and Movie King can also be given a squeak but Compton Dragon could be just about at his peak and is given the nod.
