Aleron has proved a model of consistency of late and looks the one to beat ahead of Page Nouvelle, Theatre Tinka and Summer Bounty. The John Quinn-trained Aleron has been kept busy following a successful winter campaign on the all-weather and followed up a comfortable success at Musselburgh last month with a narrow defeat at Catterick when meeting an unexposed rival. The son of Sadler's Wells has taken a further 4lb rise in the handicap since but looks capable of another bold show under Jamie Spencer. Page Nouvelle stayed on strongly to score over nine furlongs at Nottingham last time out but has to shoulder a 6lb penalty and is far from certain to be as effective over this longer trip while Theatre Tinka showed useful form last year but lacks a recent outing and could struggle under top weight. Sporting Gesture had just a neck to spare over Summer Bounty when the pair clashed at Pontefract last month and there should be little between the pair once again but this represents a stiffer task for both. Silvaline remains relatively lightly raced and this bold front runner should be suited by the track so can't be left out of calculations.
