This is a typically competitive renewal of the Huxley Stakes and Doctor Fremantle is sure to be popular with punters, but we prefer the claims of EXPRESSO STAR who can get the better of Staying On. John Gosden's colt could not be in better form and he is looking to complete the five-timer today. He won well over 1m last time in the Lincoln at Doncaster but he is even better over today's trip. He has the best of the draw and he does appear to be on an upward curve so it will take a good one to beat him. Sir Michael Stoute's Doctor Freemantle could be the fly in the ointment as he finished 8th in the St Leger when last seen out. He may find this trip a little on the sharp side and he does have an absence to overcome today but he won the Chester Vase here last season and he should run a big race. Staying On finished second at Royal Ascot last season and he won well in a Listed race at Doncaster last month. He did get the run of the race that day but he is progressive type and we anticipate a big run. Yahrab is the Godolphin representative here and he ran well in a Listed race in Abu Dhabi last time. The stable are not yet firing on all cylinders but nonetheless he has to be respected. Fairmile disappointed on his only previous run here so he may be best watched. There are plenty in with chances, but Expresso Star has the best of the draw, the yard are in form and he can make it five wins on the spin.
