While he may have something to find at the figures, SOUTH EASTER is our pick to beat Redwood in a race that often goes to the favourite. Willy Haggas' colt won the Dee Stakes here last year, in the process showing this course and distance to be ideal, and the horse he beat that day has gone on to take a high rank having started amongst the favourites for the Dubai World Cup last time. South Easter went on to run a fair race at Royal Ascot before returning with a victory this year in Listed company at Kempton. This is tougher but his form stacks up, he likes it here, and having had just the four starts there should be more to come. Redwood won his first two starts before coming unstuck in last year's Dante and returned to action with a good run at Sandown, when looking the winner before tiring late on. He should've come on for that and, rated 113, he's certainly among the principles. Stotsfold is the highest rated of these and has won twice here so must be considered and in all likelihood is more of a threat than Kingdom Of Fife who has placed form here but in much lesser company. Sans Frontieres is interesting as he remains capable of better and should improve on his comeback whilst Les Fazzani will be one of those to benefit most if the heavens open. Kings Gambit is progressive but benefited from a fine ride to win last time and Debussy hasn't looked in great form of late so we'll return to South Easter.
