DUBAI BOUNTY gets the vote in an exceedingly difficult handicap to solve; Granny McPhee and Paktolos are considered as is Sanctuary, whose draw could've been kinder. Gerard Butler's filly was undone by the lack of a gallop over 1m2f on her return from an absence and a previous third behind Berling reads well. Off the same mark and with improvement to come not only for the step up in trip but also with any cobwebs blown away, she's taken to make the most of stall one. Granny McPhee is a progressive handicapper and got this trip well last time. Prior to that she'd shown a liking for this track when winning over shorter and she remains well enough treated up 5lbs. Paktolos is going the other way in the weights but his fourth to Jedi here in May reads nicely and he's dropped to a likeable mark. Sanctuary caught the eye on his return when short of room at a crucial stage but stall 14 isn't easy to overcome even at this start, so perhaps Oriental Cavalier is a bigger threat. Mark Buckley's charge is 6lbs higher after winning a course and distance handicap recently but hasn't been out of the frame in three visits to the track and is therefore a factor. Layla's Dancer is a fascinating contender at the foot of the weights as his two recent efforts have come behind subsequent winners but this is a step into the unknown stamina-wise, so perhaps this is best left to Dubai Bounty who remains a filly of potential.
