tracked sole rival, shaken up 3f out, ridden and pressed leader over 2f out, led well over 1f out, stayed on well
led sole rival, ridden and pressed over 2f out, headed well over 1f out, no extra inside last
Caspian Queen will find this more straightforward then her last two assignments at Ascot but Evasive Power looks in the handicapper's grip. Sole three-year-old, Algheed, yet to finish out of the frame, made a winning debut for the yard at Lingfield and has scope for further progress but is tough to assess as she's yet to race on Turf. Bolly Bullet has headgear applied for the first time and Hollie Doyle booked but SPANISH STAR is admirably consistent and seemed to relish the step up to 7f at Newbury so gets the nod.
Caspian Queen (IRE) 7-2 (9-12) Held up in rear, pushed along over 2f out, switched right and effort over 1f out, no impression, weakened inside final furlong, 6th of 7, 10 1/4l behind Achelois (8-10) at Ascot 1m hcp fll (3) gd in Jul.
Bolly Bullet (IRE) 11-10fav (9-5) Went left and bumped start, tracked leaders, raced keenly, not much room over 2f out, switched left well over 1f out, went 3rd inside final furlong, kept on, 3rd of 6, 1/2l behind Miquelon (9-6) at Chepstow 7f hcp (4) gs in Aug.
Evasive Power (USA) 6-1 (9-12) Bumped start, mid-division, some headway on inside 2f out, 5th and no chance inside furlong, 5th of 9, 4 3/4l behind Tyger Bay (8-8) at Kempton 6f hcp (4) pol in Aug.
Spanish Star (IRE) 17-2 (9-12) Slowly away, held up in rear, headway well over 2f out, pressed leaders inside final furlong, ridden to lead last 100 yards, ran on well, won at Newbury 7f hcp (4) gd in Aug beating Fangorn (9-4) by 3/4l, 10 ran.
