Arantes continues to descend the weights but still looks up against it having to concede poundage to the likes of Gran Maestro and AIR SQUADRON. The latter scored for Ralph Beckett over course and distance on the first day of the month and should come on again with only half a dozen Turf starts to his name. He's been most consistent since joining the Beckett yard and can defy his new mark. Gran Maestro has been performing consistently over timber and now has a first run on the level for Dr Newland. He was a fair sort on the Flat with Ruth Carr so has to be taken into account, as would course and distance winner Highway Code if forgiven his latest run when badly tailed off.
