In depth

Verdict

Colonial Sunset gets the tentative vote in an uninspiring contest where Ask The Umpire and Monbonami are rated the main dangers. The selection ran well enough in a better race than this last time and a reproduction of that effort may suffice in this lowly company, under conditions that suit. The ex-Irish Monbonami has been freshened up by a break and has to be respected on his return; he rates a bigger threat than The Mighty Sparrow, who has also been off for some time. Andy's Lad has given little sign of encouragement in two starts this term and of more interest may be Rob Dickin's Cedar, although he has yet to show that he stays this far. Ask The Umpire ran better back over hurdles last time but has yet to convince with his jumping and a safer bet looks to be Colonial Sunset, who gets the vote.
