In depth

Verdict

This looks a tough puzzle to solve as several of these showed improved form last season but haven't raced for a while. Top of that list is Rileyev, who is now 27lb higher than when his winning run began in March. Palace Jester was brought down on his reappearance at Carlisle but that outing will have blown away a few cobwebs and he makes more appeal than Fishoutofwater, who makes his chasing bow off a stiff mark. Mister Matt may also be too high in the weights now but Betabob and Oscar Gogo are both capable of finding a bit more this season. FALCON ISLAND has a chasing pedigree and Colin Tizzard's six-year-old could be well treated here on his first run over the larger obstacles. His hurdling form last season certainly stands up to scrutiny and he's preferred to Educating Evans, who took a heavy fall when favourite at Perth and may need time to recover from the experience.
